I have two more gorgeous projects to show you today. Sara who is the Marketing Director here at the Black Sheep is knitting two different projects at the moment for her two little girls.

The image below is what is going to be a blanket knitted in a variety of Sublime double knit yarns including Baby Cashmere Merino Silk Dk, Extra Fine Merino Dk and Baby Silk and Bamboo Dk. At the moment it is not actually a blanket, so we decided to lay out some of the many, many squares (there are 88 in total!!) to get a feel for how it is going to look when finished. Sara has joined 8 squares together in a row which will be the width of the blanket - 8 squares by 11 squares. As you can see from the photo each piece has been carefully tacked together then hand sewn with embroidery cotton so that the joins aren’t visible. This is a long process, but will be well worth it when finished. A lot of love and care has gone into this project.

Sara wanted to make a ‘snuggle blanket’ for her daughters. If they are not feeling too well they can cosy up in the blanket and snuggle. Something that she hopes they will remember in years to come like the crocheted blanket Sara had when she was a little girl. Her mum crocheted the blanket in granny squares, although the blanket became holey and worn over the years she still has one of the squares today. This in fact was her something old when she got married.

On to the next project ……….

Sara has chosen to knit this ‘Little Savannah’ Shrug from the Sublime book 632 in Sirdar Baby Bamboo Dk shade 156. This shade is curently on offer at just £1.69 a ball. The yarn looks great knitted up in this shade and has quite a luxurious feel. A cute summer cover up.

I love seeing all of the wonderful projects that are being brought in at the moment. It’s great to see the variety including baby knits, cross stitch and crochet. Last night I started to crochet  a flower in the Rowan Fine Lace - what a beautiful yarn. At the moment I am not entirely sure what I plan to do, I am thinking something delicate and precious.

On to PART FOUR of staff projects……..

Stacey is an enthusiastic knitter and crocheter who works here picking and packing. She brought in all sorts of different bits and bobs that she has on the go at the moment.

One of Stacey’s friends has just had a baby so she is knitting this really cute all in one in Sirdar Snowdrops Chunky (shade 350). Stacey chose the white shade as she didn’t know if it was a boy or girl. Her friend lives in the North East so Stacey thought this would be a perfect cosy and warm outfit for the newborn. As you can see from the unusual shapes below it is in pieces on the stitch holders, quite interesting to see how the garment is knitted. It is such as lovely yarn with its little bobble fleck just like snowdrops.

Here is what the garment will look like finished (pattern 1993). Stacey said that it is a really nice yarn to knit with and she loves the snowdrop texture.

Stacey also brought in a piece of crochet in Sirdar Hayfield Baby Bonus Lustre Dk. This is going to be a small baby blanket. The yarn looks really nice crocheted, especially in the stitch Stacey has chosen. A kind of shell / fan crochet stitch. You can just about see the sheen in the yarn from the photograph. We are all looking forward to seeing the finished projects!
